Kennedy Center外觀是一間非常巨大的白色建築物，門牌上面寫著The John F. Kennedy Memorial Center for the Performing Arts。
這個入口的巨型海報是National Symphony Orchestra（華盛頓國家交響樂團）的定期音樂會資訊。
另外一個入口的巨型海報是2010年Tony Award（湯尼獎）的最佳音樂劇「Memphis」（曼菲斯）。
我穿梭在巨大的地面層裡頭，這個地面層就有三個廳的入口，一個是有2465個座位的Concert Hall（音樂廳），一個是有2362個座位的Opera House（歌劇院），另外一個是1164個座位的Eisenhower Theater（艾森豪劇院）。
三個廳中間挑高空間大廳的吊燈，吊燈也一樣加高了，看起來有點樸實但是很有存在感的吊燈。
不過我的目的地不是這三個廳，這棟建築物還有另外一個樓層叫做「Terrace Level」（梯形樓層），這樓層也有兩個小型劇院，一個是有513個座位的「Terrace Theater」（梯形劇場），另外一個是最小的，有200個座位的「Theater Lab」（實驗劇場）。我的目的地是Terrace Theater，下面這張照片是這個劇院的入口。
在劇院入口前拿了免費的票，節目內容是「Washington International Competition for Strings」（華盛頓國際絃樂比賽），時間是2012年6月10日星期日下午兩點整。
拿到了這場的playbill（節目冊），跟一張比賽的順序與曲目單。
翻開節目冊的第一頁，有我的名字耶，這場不只是絃樂的總決賽，也是華盛頓國際作曲比賽的第一名跟第二名的作品演出，這兩個作品在絃樂比賽結束跟宣布得獎者之前的空檔演出。我的作品是這場音樂比賽的最後一個曲子，很高興由鋼琴家Joy Puckett Schreier和Sunrise Quartet（日出絃樂四重奏）演出我的鋼琴五重奏作品《五首小品集》（Five Bagatelles for Piano and String Quartet）。
節目單這一頁還有作曲評審的簡介，右邊那一頁還有兩位作曲比賽得獎者的簡介，看到這個，又來到這個很厲害的場地，會有種不可思議像在夢境裡面的感覺。
絃樂總決賽的中場休息時，拍了一張這個廳的照片。一開始我坐在還滿高處的位置，整個很低調躲在後面，不過中場休息之前，大會有宣布待會會演出兩首作曲比賽的得獎作品，還對台下大聲呼喊尋找著作曲家，要我們揮手致意一下，所以中場時間還滿多人跑來跟我恭喜的。
雖然贏了這個比賽已經過了快要一年，被大會邀請出席來到這場音樂會的現場，現在想起來還是覺得自己真的是非常地幸運。這個記憶雖然被照片記錄著，眼前所見的都是真實的，但是很弔詭地還是有一種不敢置信的氛圍充滿著這個現場。
