National Postal Museum - Serving the Cities

這是去年6月11日去Washington DC的遊記，那天早上去了National Postal Museum（國立郵政博物館），這是系列文章的最後一篇，「Serving the Cities」（服務城市）篇。

有玻璃櫥窗，展區燈光又亮，所以都會把自己拍進去。

換個角度拍看看會不會好一點。我必須承認我是看中那兩個郵差包包，我覺得很有質感很好看，底下比較大的那個包包有寫「US Mail Collection」（美國郵件收集）。

這個大型展示區上面寫著Post Office（郵局），中間還有一台車子上面裝了很多郵包。這是1904年使用的郵局用台車，是在Maryland（馬里蘭州）使用的，直到1920年才退役。這種台車是裝載著郵包來回在火車站運送郵件，早期在城市的郵局都是在火車站附近以方便傳遞郵件。

台車附近還有展示著各式各樣的美國郵箱，大部分都是以橄欖綠顏色為主。

這區也有一個地方有著早期郵局的復古版，中間有鐵欄杆的窗口上面還有寫著Stamp，應該就是販售郵票或是投遞郵件的窗口。

同場加映：我發現這一區「Customers & Communities」（客戶與社區），有一個介紹很有意思。

就是這個，「Postal Inspectors: Bombs in the Mail 」（郵政檢查：郵件裡的炸彈）。這算是很罕見的情況，有人會在郵件裡放炸彈，讓我想起十幾年前有人放了不明白色粉末在郵件裡面投遞，跟炸彈一樣都具有危險性。

這裡還有舉一個例子，Ted Kaczynski（卡辛斯基），又稱「The Unabomber」（大學炸彈客），在1978到1996年間，不斷投遞炸彈包裹給大學教授或是航空公司進行恐怖主義活動，最後被捕落網的圖片。另外還有介紹現今檢查這些可疑包裹的方式。
